To those few of you who read this newsletter, I would like to apologize for the inconsistency of new material over the past year. The truth is that I have been, and still am, ill. It's been one struggle after another. Here's a very brief history.
My wife Kaye and I went to Nassau, Bahamas, for a vacation in January 2009. We had a pleasant time and enjoyed our stay at the Crystal Palace Casino on Cable beach. Considering that it was 29 degrees below zero where we live (Michigan) at the time it was a welcome respite.
On the return trip we had to change planes in Atlanta and, because our incoming flight was 5 minutes late, we missed our connection and were stuck in the terminal for 7 hours waiting for the next flight. Exactly 1 week after returning home my right leg swelled to 2 1/2 times it's normal size and I ended up in the hospital with a blood clot. The doctor said it was from the 10 hours I had spent sitting and the pressurized cabins of the airplanes. This problem is still ongoing. The last scan I had showed that 80% of the clot was gone but 20% remaines.
In addition to that I had an allergic reaction last fall that hospitalized me again and then, in December, nerve damage from a common disorder called shingles, which still persists. 2009 was not a good year for me.
As it is my doctor will only allow me to sit at my desk for a few minutes at a time with extensive breaks keeping my leg elevated. I offer this as an explanation of why the newletter hasn't been more consistent.
While I do own a few membership sites that provide some more-or-less steady income the majority of my income comes from programming and this has been very frustrating for me - not to mention expensive. If I can't sit at my desk then I can't work and you know what happens when you can't work - no money is coming in.
