Once in a while, maybe once in 6 months, someone will ask me how to make money on the internet. If you read the last newsletter you saw, what I believe to be, the only correct way to start. Simply put, you start by building a mailing list. If you don't do this one essential thing then nothing else will be enough to overcome the lack of that list. Having said that, let me add that just having a mailing list will not bring great success, it is only the first step -but an essential one. OK, I hope you understand that you need to get your lead capture pages and opt-in forms set up FIRST. 

Now, here's what you can do while your list is building.....

When your list is small there are some alternative venues you can use to get your message out to the people who might want to join your program, buy your product, etc. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail with these and please remember they are only for temporary use while you are getting your mailing list populated.

1. Safelists
2. Forums
3. Text Ads & Links
4. Paid-to sites (PTR, PTC, etc.)

When asked about the easiest way of building a list, and making a consistent income, there is only one best answer. Membership sites. What do you need to have a successful membership site? Quality Content. Some of you may think that's an obscure answer but it's the truth. There are many, many types of membership sites and the only thing they all have in common is quality content.

What is quality content?

Web content that is user friendly as well as search engine friendly is considered quality content. For a website to rank high and be popular among users it must provide interesting, well written, relevant and unique content. It can be looked at as content that is link-worthy, not merely generic text that appears on hundreds of sites.

If you have a website, and you hope to make money with it, your content should be different from other websites. Even a home-made looking site with original unique content will produce a better income than a slick-looking photo-shopped site that has the exact same content as 100 other sites. This assumes that each is being marketed to the same extent and seen by the same number of people. More traffic really does equate to more sales if you have a unique and desirable product or service and are marketing it in an original and attractive way.
